Machining Capabilities
CNC TurningCNC turning operations are performed on high precision computerized numerically controlled lathes. At Steer we have several for a range of capacities on different parts.
Okuma LB3000 II SpaceTurn, is our newest addition. OSP control and hold extremely close tolerances. 1180 IPM rapids gets your parts done fast and precise. Complete with barfeed and live tooling on the turret. See the short video below for a preview of the Okuma in action. We have several Hardinge Conquest 42’s with Fanuc controls. They are capable of holding extremely close tolerances of +/-.0002". Complete with barfeeds and live tooling. Also, we utilize CAD CAM technology which aids us in programming and running your parts quickly, and efficiently. |
CNC MillingCNC milling operations are performed on precision computerized numerically controlled vertical machining centers. We have two FADAL 4020HT VMC's that have location repeatability of +/- .0002" and can contour at 375 inches per minute accurately. We machine at 10,000 rpm on a regular basis to get you your parts without delay. Rigid tapping can also be performed up to 3000 rpm with depth repeatability at +/-.0003. Our machines will also engrave and serial number your parts at a fraction of the time of an engraving shop.
We utilize CAD CAM technology which aids us in programming and running your parts quickly, and efficiently. |
Conventional Turning and MillingProduction at Steer varies from simple to complex machining, utilizing conventional machinery includes; standard engine lathes and milling machines. Our engine lathes vary in size from 12"SW X 24" to 32"SW X 74". Manual milling capabilities range from standard Bridgeport to large K&T horizontal and vertical mills.

Single Point Thread CuttingAt times the MAN-AU-CYCLE threading lathe is more cost effective than CNC and just as accurate. With a large 3" spindle bore, we can produce acme, box, buttress, or any degree “V” thread of varied lengths in just about any pitch. This machine produces a phenomenal cut thread. Only a handful were ever imported into the United States from Switzerland, we have one of them.
